How to become a Traffic Controller

To become a traffic controller in Sydney you must obtain the following

  • RIIWHS201E Work safely and follow WHS policies and work procedures
  • RIICOM201E Communicate in the workplace
  • RIIWHS205E Control traffic with a stop-slow bat
  • RIIWHS206 Control traffic with portable traffic control devices and temporary traffic signs
 

In simple terms you need a white card, blue ticket and a yellow ticket to become a traffic controller in Sydney. You will also need to get PPE to work in traffic control. This includes

  • High visibility shirt
  • Work pants
  • Safety boots
  • Two-way radio
  • Hard hat
  • Safety glasses
